Traditional cheese sharing festival
The "Käseteilet" festival is held every year on a Friday in early autumn (ask at the reception for the date of this year’s event).
By following an age-old distribution system, the cattle owners gather and share the cheese made from the milk of their cows which spent the summer in the Justistal. The colourful affair is accompanied by folk music, spontaneous yodelling, hearty food including, of course, lots of cheese! The day ends with a procession of the cows back to the village farms where they spend the autumn and winter.
